Importing Chats

Learn how to import your ChatGPT or Claude export into ChatShuttle.

From ChatGPT

Step 1: Export your data

  1. Go to ChatGPT Settings → Data Controls
  2. Click "Export data"
  3. Wait for an email from OpenAI (usually within 24 hours)
  4. Download the ZIP file from the email link

Step 2: Import into ChatShuttle

  1. Open the ChatShuttle extension
  2. Click the "Upload" tab
  3. Drag and drop your ZIP file (or click to browse)
  4. Wait for the import to complete

From Claude

Step 1: Export your data

  1. Go to Claude Settings → Account
  2. Scroll to "Export data"
  3. Download your conversation history

Step 2: Import into ChatShuttle

Same as ChatGPT — drag and drop the export file into ChatShuttle. The extension will automatically detect the Claude format.

Note: Claude's export ZIP does not contain image files, so images cannot be restored. Only text conversations will be imported.

What Gets Imported

  • ✓Text messages — All your prompts and AI responses
  • ✓Images — Screenshots, diagrams, photos from ChatGPT export
  • ✓Conversation structure — Who said what and when
