Importing Chats
Learn how to import your ChatGPT or Claude export into ChatShuttle.
From ChatGPT
Step 1: Export your data
- Go to ChatGPT Settings → Data Controls
- Click "Export data"
- Wait for an email from OpenAI (usually within 24 hours)
- Download the ZIP file from the email link
Step 2: Import into ChatShuttle
- Open the ChatShuttle extension
- Click the "Upload" tab
- Drag and drop your ZIP file (or click to browse)
- Wait for the import to complete
From Claude
Step 1: Export your data
- Go to Claude Settings → Account
- Scroll to "Export data"
- Download your conversation history
Step 2: Import into ChatShuttle
Same as ChatGPT — drag and drop the export file into ChatShuttle. The extension will automatically detect the Claude format.
Note: Claude's export ZIP does not contain image files, so images cannot be restored. Only text conversations will be imported.
What Gets Imported
- ✓Text messages — All your prompts and AI responses
- ✓Images — Screenshots, diagrams, photos from ChatGPT export
- ✓Conversation structure — Who said what and when
